Baccarat Terminology

Here are common terminologies involved in baccarat, of which many of the terms come from Italian and French.

Baccarat
It is an Italian word and it means zero. This is the worst hand one can have in baccarat.

Banker Bet
One of two betting positions in baccarat, which is a bet placed on the Banker’s hand beating the player hand.

Bankroll
It refers to the total amount of money that you bring to the table and willing to gamble with.

Coup
It is a French word which refers to a single round of play comprising of a player hand and a banker hand.

Dealer
The dealer is the person, usually a casino employee, who is in charge of the drawing of the cards and overseeing the game.

Draw
It is the term used to withdraw a card from the deck.

Natural
The first two cards have a total score of 8 or 9.

Shoe
It is a wooden device where playing cards are kept.

Tie
It is a situation in which neither the player nor the dealer wins.

Tie Bet
It is a bet that is made on a tie situation.
